  I bought a kalimba on June 11 2019 from ranch guitar and it came with 4 dead tines. This is a defect in the wood that makes it not resonate, it has nothing to do with tuning and no amount of tuning will fix it. When I wanted to return it, ranch guitar said I have to pay for the postage. I bought the kalimba for 15.99 and UPS wants to charge 21.00 for the return. I should NOT be responsible for ANY charge since they sent me a defective item. VERY BAD BUSINESSES. They unloaded a defective item on me. They also said it was delivered through Amazon. Thst is a lie, I called Amazon and they said they did not deliver it. So buyer beware. Don’t do busines with this company. I had several emails with them to no avail. Dont get scammed and have defective merchandise unloaded on you.

  You can tune the kalimba with the tuner hammer.
  Here I attach a picture again to show you the app name and how to tune it.

  Any instrument that has been used for a long time, or which has gone through a collision, will face a tuning problem. We never heard that kalimba has a key that is dead. The length of the 17 keys is different and each key’s sound is different. Maybe because of the collision of the transport, the 4 keys are just out of tune. It can be easily adjusted by simply using the hammer tapping the keys up and down, in fact.
