This is a really good concert ukulele for the price. I have a lanikai soprano ukulele and the sound that comes from it is comparable, if not a little better. The sounds that comes out of the ukulele is warm and a bit deep. Having aquila definitely helps makes the sound that comes out of it resonate warmly. The construction is also well done, with the fret boards surprisingly smooth on the sides.
The order also comes with a couple other goodies. There’s a tuner that works well enough, and it’s always nice to have a physical tuner rather than using my phone. There’s a strap which I haven’t quite figured out how to use and set up with the ukulele. There’s an extra pair of aquila strings in case you break a string, although unlikely, is still really nice. There’s also a case which is well made and fits all the things inside well.
For any ukulele, the string will have to be tuned multiple times until it gets used to the ukulele and your playing so this is normal. I found it stayed in tune a little longer than normal out of the box which is nice.

I bought the concert size ukulele,, comes with semi hard carry case ( which has a pocket , where you will find your rag and extra strings) , tuner and a neck strap ukulele holder which I just figured out you put at the top of the hole, not wrap around the Uku and attach ot the lower hole,,, works fine if you do it correctly.. HAha,, Also you get an extra set of Aguila nygut strings and a wiping rag.. the Ukulele does come with strap buttons ( 2 ) already installed,, so if you like a guitar style wide strap you could use one of those, I do not like straps, hence I do not use them, I have all sizes of Ukulele ( Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone) and find the Concert size fits my style and travel the best, fits in my luggage etc..
The uku has laser etching around the sound hole and white highlight around the outside,, my wife commented how much she liked the look of this Ukulele, and that was a first ever comment about my ukuleles.
I found this concert to be a bit light, so I would classify it a Beginner/intermediate price range and playing ability,,, When I first got this ukulele I spent a few minutes with a straight edge and made sure all the Frets were on the same level. The nut and saddle are plastic.
After the initial string stretching and tuning, ( tuners are plastic knobs and enclosed metal gears, seemed to turn smoothly), I open string tune, then check at the 12 th fret which is an octave higher ( think of a organ or piano). This ukulele was in tune at the octave higher, which I was pleased to see,, IF THIS DOESNT TUNE,, you will never ever play anything that remotely sounds good.. if you find you are out of tune up there, I suggest sending it back esp lower cost range ukulele.
I have seen/read about people giving up so easily because they claim the ukulelel doesnt sound right,, I think their Uku is out of tune up, at the higher range,,, , good luck finding someone to work on it cheaply also,, hence send it back.
I also stretch my stings by hand ,this is because of the loop knot down at the saddle ( lower end).
I found the strings hard on my fingers and will end up replacing them at a later date with better strings, ( even though it does come with an extra set I like a certain brand, ) I played it this weekend for several hours and didnt find any problems, ( that is the great thing about playing an instrument, you can find almost any genre sing with chords online or youtube) otherwise you will need to tune it for a few days, I just take my thumb and move the string sideways a couple of inches, then open string tune it,, works fine for me, but like I said common sense. One thing to remember, if you live in a high humid area, your string tuning most likely will change a bit, I live in the desert and still check tuning often, take less than a minute.
I found the tuner to work well but like my Snark tuners better,, the on-off button was a bit harder to get at, but the screen turns green when you hit that note. and it can sit on top of the neck while you play,,
I think this package deal was worth the money,, extra strings are about 10 bucks and up, the carrying case isnt a hard shell but it not the gig back either, it is a semi stiff padded bag, looks just like the picture. I think I will enjoy this bag,, I have a hard shell travel but this will take the place of taking my uku around in the car for bonfire sing alongs.
Overall a great buy,, stick with practicing/playing,, very few people are naturals, I have been playing 4 years or more and play at least 10-12 hours a week, songs that I like,, I cannot finger pick at all, although trying to learn it, and You tube and google are your friend,, I suggest sticking with 3 and 4 chord songs until you can change chords without looking at your fingers.. I think you will enjoy this ukulele very much. if you have any questions or comments, I will try to answer them. Dont bother with a Soprano Uku IMO,, even for a kid. Found this one after some research online. I am far from being an expert and I play for fun and the good thing about this one is they it came with all accessories.
The pack contains the ukulele which is in a light brown color with nice motives engraved, a transport case light grey super nice. A set of extra string and a tuner.
The feel Is very nice, the instrument is light and the size is very nice for an adult player. After few tuning I get the string to stay tuned and now I don’t need to tune it every 3 hours. The engraving on the wood is very well done and the white strips along the contour is really stylish
The sound is ukulele like. I personally think it sounds great for playing chords to go with singers. I play mostly music part and have friend singing over. The resonance is great and loud enough to be heard with 2/3 singers.
I would say the target of this instrument are people who wants to learn and or for amateur who like to play for fun.

We have several Ukulele’s at our home. My oldest daughter has a Kala we purchased in Kauaii while on vacation ($100), my second daughter has a starter/kids diamond head soprano ukulele she purchased years ago on Amazon ($35) and a Lanika concert ukulele ($90 pictured below). After comparing this ukulele to our others we came up with the conclusion that we could have saved a lot of money by purchasing this ukulele vs the others. While the tenor ukulele has been excellent, it came solo (no extras) and cost a lot of money, the Lanika (again no extras) has beautiful sound quality and both are great ukuleles, but in my opinion this Ranch ukulele is just as quality as the others we own for half the cost! The sound quality is absolutely beautiful, and the color of the wood is stunning as is the entire look of the ukulele. The gig bag it comes with is padded and far superior to the bag we purchased separately for our Lanika. My daughter has now stolen my bag and claimed it as her own. I also love that it comes with a neck strap for when you want to play standing up (already used that feature several times). The extra strings and polishing cloth are nice additions as is the tuner. Thus far the tuner has worked perfectly every time we have tuned it. Now my youngest daughter is begging for her own ukulele, and this will be the one we purchase again! Really nice uke considering the price. The construction is very good and the quality of the finish is shocking. I could stare at his thing all day. It sounds perfect and stays in tune reasonably well, much better than other cheaper ukes I?€?ve had in the past. Comes with an extra set of strings, strap, cleaning cloth, picks and an easy to use clip-on tuner. The padded case is also very well made and has an extra zippered pocket. A lot of bang for your buck!

I LOVE THIS TENOR UKULELE! It has a great tone, and the Aquila strings just add to that. The combination of the two makes for a very enjoyable playing/practicing experience. A small story of how I found the Ranch Ukulele. I am a high school teacher of 30+ years and for the first time ever am facilitating several independent studies classes. One young man selected the music industry careers as his topic for the semester. I asked if he played an instrument and his response of “no, but I want to” started a group quest to find what might work for him. Fairly soon I was working with half a dozen students wanting to try the Ukulele. One of the young men said he know someone who could play and would ask him to come to teach some of the basics. He agreed and the quest for instruments began.After several days of research, begging family and friends to help, we finally received a couple of classroom instruments. One teacher, six students, and 2 ukuleles make learning next to impossible. One of the girls told me she found the ukulele she was going to get for class. Her eagerness to share the find caused me to slow down and take a look. She had actually found a ukulele that was not too expensive and looked a lot better than the “toy” ones she first wanted. I agreed to order it for her and she could pay me back in installments. Fast-forward to now, I also learned that the young man who was teaching us had a bumper sticker on the back of his ukulele that covered the rather large crack which happened when he either dropped it or his sister sat on it. The folks at Ranch responded quickly to my email about the problem. They suggested several things for me to try to stop the buzz; but it appears that there may be a problem with the nut. I’ve bought and returned a bunch of ukuleles because they had bad intonation (strings in tune when open, but sharp when fretted, resulting in sour sounding chords).I played over 20 ukuleles in shops including a $400 Fender and this is better than all of them.Plus, on other ukuleles, when you tune a string, the frequencies bounce all over the place without you touching the tuning knobs or the string. It makes it hard to tune them. On this ukulele, the tone holds rock steady.

This Ranch concert ukulele instrument kit is a great deal. I already have a few higher end ukes from Hawaii but wanted to get a nice starter kit for my teen niece who is just starting to play. With this kit you get everything you need to start playing out of the box ¡ªa tuner, a strap, Aquila strings, a better quality gig bag and 12 free online lessons. The uke itself is a real beauty. Wanted a tenor to play around with low G tuning, and at this price why not?I was pleasantly surprised by the looks. It’s nice looking. Curved back on this one not what I expected, but it looks ok.Sound wasn’t bad, about what you would expect at this price. So a little plasticy and harsh (only a little, and again, no more than is usual for this price.)The nut was a bit high. As was the bridge saddle. So action was a little high. And both parts we’re plastic and not worth the effort. So I ordered an ebony nut and saddle set and WOW! Once the ebony nut and saddle we’re installed and adjusted this little inexpensive Uke really opened up and sounds beautiful. With the addition of the low G string, it’s exactly what I wanted. And it only cost a few dollars (and 20 to 30 minutes of easy work).I’m also going to replace the tuning machines. The ones that came on it are serviceable, but tuning machines are a bit of a pet peeve for me, and a set of uke Grover sta-tites are only $13. So why wouldn’t i?I came to Uke fron guitar because FUN! With inexpensive guitars, it’s common to get a new guitar and need to make a few adjustments and upgrade the couple parts that annoy you. It’s part of the fun. The secret is finding one with a good, straight body and neck. In other words, decent bones.

The last ukulele I owned was the epiphone Les Paul sunburst uke and I will definitely say I should have just bought another of those haha this Ranch ukulele is alright for the price, the tuner isn’t the greatest (what’d you expect for a $65 bundle?) But has worked fine the 150 or so times I tuned this thing trying to stretch out the strings (took about a day) haha the neck strap is totally pointless because this Ranch concert uke has the strap buttons already for a regular strap. The wood is a bit too thin perhaps because when I start really playing there’s a buzzing vibration that is not the kind you want coming from the body. I’m guessing there’s a piece of the innerbody that didn’t get glued in well or something… So this is a $65 ukulele bundle and you get exactly $65 worth of brand new ukulele and accessories haha

As a beginner uke player, I did a ton of research and decided to give this a try for my first ukulele. At first I was super impressed. It holds a tune nicely (still working on letting the stings stretch), the frets are nice and smooth on the sides, and it has good volume.However! The trim along the sides of the fretboard is coming off. It¡¯s just a thin black piece of trim, but it is coming unglued at the top of the neck. I¡¯m not sure if I¡¯ll return it and hope for one without the defect or if I¡¯ll just glue it back in place.Overall, a good beginner ukulele for the price.

Another thing that’s cosmetics but guess is good to mention, the silver tuning head are really good however on the back there was few scratches that does not impact in ANY thing but could be avoided with a thin plastic stick (like in a new cellphone screen), since when you buy something new, you’re not expected see any marks.As my first Uke I’m fine with that and really recommend, was the best Cost and Benefit I found, it’s not amateur neither professional instrument, it’s a great first experience.

I’m very pleased with my concert ukulele from Ranch. It’s a nice looking instrument with warm sound. The ordering was easy and shipping was fast. It was nice to find a couple of picks and a standard (instead of the hook version shown on the product page) guitar strap included. Unfortunately, the guitar strap is a child’s size so even when extended to it’s longest position it’s entirely too small for me to use with the ukulele.
I do have a few suggestions to make the customer experience better:
First, a 10% discount is advertised for new customers that sign up for their list. I signed up, but no code was sent to me so I had to write to Customer Service to receive the discount code.
Second, the product details on the site are inconsistent and very minimal. I had to write Customer Service again to ask if the model I was interested in came with strap buttons or not. Some models show the buttons installed on the product page and mention they’re included; some models show them installed on the product page but don’t mention them at all; and the rest don’t show them or mention them. Customer Service replied that all models come with strap buttons installed, so it should be mentioned on each product page exactly what is and isn’t included.
Third, when I received my ukulele, the product sheet that came with it mentioned that I needed to go to the Ranch site within 60 days to register my ukulele for the lifetime warranty. There is nothing on the Ranch site that mentions a warranty at all, so I had to write to Customer Service a third time to ask about this. They replied with a link that took me to a page where I filled out a form with my information and the Amazon order ID. It was odd that the submit button said “SUBSCRIBE” since I’m not sure what that meant. I clicked it and It seemed to go through. Maybe the button should say “REGISTER” instead? It would be nice if a confirmation email had been sent to me for my records also after registering it for the lifetime warranty.
Those things aside, all questions I asked were answered within a few hours so even though I had some back and forth during the process, it was handled well which is why Ranch earned a five star rating from me.

So it’ll go out of tune really quickly for the first couple of days (I have the same problem whenever I put new strings on my guitar).

I am stoked to have ordered this Concert Ukulele UK-23 Beginner kit. As a beginner learning to play the ukulele, this is the perfect set for me. Even though I’m an adult, I chose this set over the Tenor ukulele. I’ve been debating which to get and after chatting with the very friendly and helpful people at Ranch, I went ahead and made this selection. It comes with a tuner (which really tunes other string instruments too – a plus!), an additional set of string, a strap and a cleaning cloth. I love the padded carrier because it’s light but protects my ukulele. Back to the ukulele, it is really well made, and I started learning from the lessons provided on the Ranch’s website right away (after tuning my ukulele). Ordering and shipping was a breeze. Great Beginner Kit. you need to tune couple of times in the beginning as it is the same for any other uke. Then it gives you no trouble and you would love to practice with it.

Still having problem with tuning my ukulele . I use it everyday and I need to tuned it 2-3x daily . I continue to use my tuner that was provided and to no avail. So frustrating.

About tuning issue: It happens to any string instrument – It takes few days to stay tuned (due to new strings naturally stretching).
Once it’s done stretching, it will achieve an optimal tuning stability.
The uke is dynamic, resonant. Single notes have great harmonic sound.
From my experience, if you strum a new ukulele 1 hour a day, and keep playing it for 3 days. It’s tune will be settled better. If you play it 1 hour a day for almost 1 week, then the strings are well settled.
All of our products are installed with Aquila strings – which are industry standard and are highly rated and recommended by most. These are the exact kind of strings a uke is supposed to have.
So Cheer up! Just give the string some time and stick to play it. ^_^
